"NEW USERS GET UP TO $1K — RISK-FREE!"
IN 2021, while launching the Caesars Sportsbook App, the dissonance of this nonsensical promotional language shook me to my core in the way that only real nonsense can.
“Risk-Free Bet? What wager is without risk—isn’t a bet by definition risky?!”
Not only did it not make sense, it was irresponsible. Turns out, Regulators agreed.
But I didn’t stop there.
I found risk weighed against Responsibility in everything — love, art, nature, partnerships, copywriting, casinos, memes, religion, TV, and Dog walks.
EVERYTHING is predicated on risk.
And there I found a kernel of not just truth, but this self-sustaining narrative universe I began crafting in 2024 — a place where you’ll find “risk” in abundance.
Risky experimentations of form. Meta-meditations on fame, luck, losing your likeness, getting revenge, and scraping the bottom of the barrel of IP.
Risky character-driven dramas about the future, Talking Record Players, and essential questions of “What Do We Want From Our Grief?”
Risky notions of hope, found family, loneliness, parasocial connections,
legacy prospects, stray cats, Nomadic bandits, and recovery.
It’s expansive in scope of theme, genre, and story – sometimes within the same piece.
IT’S ABOUT WRITING, REVISING, REWRITING, AND REMEMBERING TO LIVE.
It’s quirky, chaotic, obnoxious, warm, hopeful – it’s quintessentially “Jamison.”
